Why your landing page converts at 0.8% (and how to 5x it in a week)

Most landing pages leak money at three predictable spots. Fix them in this order and a 0.8% page routinely gets to 4–5% inside seven days - without touching traffic.

1. The hero is doing the wrong job

A hero at 0.8% is almost always answering the wrong question. It describes what the product is, when the visitor is still asking whether they're in the right place at all.

Rewrite the hero around one outcome, one proof point, and one action. No sliders, no three-column value props above the fold, no stock imagery. If a stranger can't tell in three seconds who this is for and what they get, the page is dead on arrival.

  • Headline = the outcome (verb + specific result)
  • Sub = who it's for + how it works in one line
  • One primary CTA, one secondary. Never three.

2. Proof is filler, not a weapon

Most pages hide their strongest proof below the fold, formatted as decoration. Named clients, hard numbers, and screenshots of real results should sit next to every CTA - not once at the bottom.

Anchor each claim to a number and a source. "We help teams grow" is invisible. "€2.4M in tracked pipeline for 11 B2B SaaS teams in 2025" is a reason to keep reading.

3. The form is a wall, not a door

A five-field form after zero context is why the page leaks. Cut to email + one qualifier, or replace the form with a two-step: outcome question first, contact details second. Perceived effort drops, completion doubles.

Then instrument the drop-off between step 1 and step 2. That single ratio is worth more than any A/B test on button color.

The 7-day playbook

Day 1: rewrite the hero. Day 2: rebuild proof blocks with real numbers. Day 3: two-step the form. Days 4–6: ship, watch session recordings, kill the top three friction points. Day 7: measure.
